Exploring the Charm of Davie, Florida
When people think of South Florida, the usual suspects come to mind—Miami’s nightlife, Fort Lauderdale’s beaches, or the glitz of Palm Beach. But tucked away in Broward County, there’s a town that offers a completely different vibe—Davie, Florida.
A place where Old Florida charm meets sprawling green parks, Davie feels like stepping into a different world, away from the usual South Florida bustle. From historic landmarks to breathtaking outdoor escapes, this town has a little something for everyone.
On my recent trip, I explored Davie’s rich history at the Old Davie School and then reconnected with nature at Vista View Park and Tree Tops Park—two of the most scenic outdoor spots in South Florida.
A Step Back in Time: Old Davie School 🏫📜

If you want to feel like you’re stepping into a time capsule, the Old Davie School Historical Museum is a must-visit. Built in 1918, this is Broward County’s oldest existing school building, and it’s still standing strong over a century later.
Walking into the school, you can almost hear the echoes of students from a different era—chalkboards, wooden desks, and antique textbooks take you back to a simpler time. The museum is packed with fascinating artifacts, telling the story of Davie’s early settlers, who braved the swamplands to create a thriving agricultural town.
Highlights of My Visit

✅ The Original 1918 Classroom – It still looks like a scene from a century-old school day!
✅ Local History Exhibits – Learning how Davie transformed from a farming town into a modern community.
✅ Ghost Stories? 👻 – Rumor has it that some visitors have felt eerie presences in the building—maybe some students never left?
It’s a cool experience for history lovers, families, or anyone curious about South Florida’s past. After soaking in the old-school nostalgia, I was ready to trade history for nature and hit the parks.
Vista View Park: The Best Views in South Florida 🌄🌳
Next stop—Vista View Park, one of the highest points in South Florida. (Yes, Florida has hills, believe it or not!)
Unlike most of the flat landscapes in this region, Vista View Park sits on an old landfill that’s been transformed into a stunning green space. From the top, you get unreal panoramic views of the entire area, which is a rare sight in a state known for being mostly sea level.

What Makes Vista View Park Special?
🌄 The Hills – A rarity in Florida, making this park a favorite for biking, hiking, and even fitness training.
🚴♂️ Outdoor Activities – Cyclists, runners, and even paragliders take advantage of the open space.
🌅 Sunset Spotting – Watching the sunset from here is next-level beautiful, with nothing blocking your view.
I spent time walking the trails, taking in the fresh air, and just enjoying the peacefulness of this hidden gem. Whether you’re an outdoor fitness enthusiast or just looking for a scenic escape, Vista View delivers.
Tree Tops Park: A Hidden Forest in South Florida 🏕️
Just when I thought Davie couldn’t get more scenic, Tree Tops Park took things to another level. Imagine a place where you’re surrounded by towering oak trees, lush nature trails, and even a hidden lake.
Tree Tops Park is like a secret little forest in the middle of South Florida. It’s perfect for those who love hiking, kayaking, or just getting lost in nature.
Why I Loved Tree Tops Park

🌳 Dense Forest Trails – Walking through the wooded areas felt like a total escape from the city.
🛶 Lakes & Canoeing – The calm waters make for a perfect paddle session.
🐦 Wildlife Everywhere – From herons to turtles, the park is packed with native Florida wildlife.
There’s even a wooden boardwalk that gives you a treetop view, making you feel like you’re in a jungle canopy.
After hours of exploring, I took a break, relaxed under the shade, and just appreciated the raw, natural beauty of the park.
Final Thoughts: Why Davie is a Must-Visit in South Florida
Davie may not be on the typical tourist radar, but that’s exactly what makes it so special. It’s a place where you can connect with Florida’s history, climb rare hills, and wander through hidden forests—all in one day.
Whether you’re a history buff, outdoor adventurer, or just someone looking for a new spot to explore, Davie has something unique to offer.
